MUFG teams with iAPPS for Southeast Asia push
Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group’s (MUFG) banking entity, the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, is teaming with Singapore-based start-up iAPPS, as it targets Southeast Asia.
This partnership will see the bank launching various initiatives in the region by using iAPPS’ existing platform.
The two companies have identified several areas of collaboration that include cross-border money transfers, and supply chains in agricultural, manufacturing, and retail industries.
Hirofumi Aihara, general manager of digital transformation division, MUFG, says it wants to “contribute to process and service improvements, such as cross-border payments and settlements”.
iAPPS specialises in mobile app development and was founded in 2012. It has 70 staff and offices in Singapore, China, Indonesia and Malaysia.
