Bankwest launches Australia’s first payments ring, Bankwest Halo
Australia-based Bankwest has launched a new contactless payment offering – a Bankwest Halo ring – the country’s first.
“Whether you’re out for a jog, at the beach or balancing groceries and kids, your wallet or phone isn’t always easy to get your hands on. Bankwest Halo is the latest in wearable payment tech,” the bank says.
“It works exactly like your contactless cards, just grab the things you need, fist-bump the terminal and go.”
The ring is available for the holders of Bankwest transaction accounts. Not all accounts are eligible at present, the bank says. For example, Bankwest Business transaction accounts and the Bankwest FeeSaver Basic Account are not part of the scheme.
Bankwest Halo can be used for payments under AU$100 ($81). For larger payments entering a PIN into a point-of-sale (POS) device is required.
