Skye Bank revamps omnichannel banking with Oracle FSS
Nigeria-based Skye Bank has launched a new digital banking platform, SkyeXperience, built on the Oracle FSS tech. The bank plans to enrol over two million clients on the new solution by the end of next year.
Oracle FSS is a long-standing supplier to Skye Bank – its Flexcube core baking system has been running at the bank for over a decade.
Skye Bank’s chairman, Mohammad Ahmad, says the launch of SkyeXperience is “a timely intervention in the banking industry and a modest contribution towards the economic development of Nigeria, especially in the area of financial technology and digital evolution”.
The bank’s group MD and CEO, Tokunbo Abiru, highlights four “positive values” that SkyeXperience denotes: “experience, excellence, excitement and experiential”.
Richard Amafonye, CIO of Skye Bank, adds that the roll-out of the new platform is part of the bank’s ongoing “strategic technology re-platforming initiative”, carried out together with Oracle FSS.
The digitalisation project is also a response to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) e-Payment System Vision 2020 (PSV 2020). CBN describes its initiative as “the catalyst to revolutionise the payment system in Nigeria”. By 2020, the overwhelming majority of Nigerians will be using digital channels for their daily financial transactions, CBN hopes.
