mBank moves into fintech vendor space with new digital banking system
Poland-based mBank has started to license its mobile and online banking system to other financial institutions outside Poland. The first taker is La Banque Postale (LBP) in France.
The implementation will be carried out with the help of Accenture, mBank’s “strategic partner”.
Alice Holzman, director of digital at LBP and lead of the bank’s New Digital Bank Programme, hopes the project “will allow LBP to go faster to the market with a proven solution that will provide differentiation in customer experience and digital features”.
At the back office, mBank’s software will be integrated with LBP’s long-standing core banking platform, Sopra Banking Amplitude, from Sopra Banking Software.
As for mBank, this initiative is “the first venture of this kind in the Polish finance industry”, it says.
It adds “licences for banking systems and retail banking know-how might be granted to other companies in the future”.
The project to move into the vendor space is called mBox, and is managed/delivered together with Accenture. The scope includes mobile and e-banking platforms, and product, process and sales know-how.
