Intesa Sanpaolo sends PIN codes to customers via digital channels
Italy’s largest retail bank, Intesa Sanpaolo, is working with Gemalto to deliver PIN codes to customers via SMS, web and mobile banking app.
Gemalto describes the project as “the world’s first comprehensive e-PIN notification service”. By the end of the year, Gemalto’s PIN-by-SMS and PIN-by-Web solutions will be joined by a new PIN-by-App channel, says the vendor, “giving Intesa Sanpaolo customers the freedom to access instant PIN notifications and reminders via their mobile phone, tablet or PC”.
Over 800,000 PIN codes and reminders have already been distributed, according to Gemalto. The cost savings compared to traditional postal delivery are significant and customer service is “swift and seamless”. Customers can activate and use their new credit and debit cards immediately by receiving an immediate notification of their PIN.
“Real-time electronic PIN delivery is a key element of our vision for digital, multi-channel banking,” states Massimo Tessitore, head of direct channels, mobile payment and e-commerce department at Intesa Sanpaolo.
