NB: Excluded from the list are major banks that offer loans or credit cards as part of a wider retail banking service.
Highlights:
- American Express dominated in the UK as well for online traffic to its site in July 2016. In second place is the Student Loans Company (SLC) website which captured 1.4 million UK desktop visits in July and is a major online lending player (SLC is a government-owned entity that focuses on education loans).
- Aqua Card saw the most visited credit offering with 580,000 desktop visits in July.
- Wonga.com, which provides short-term loans online and has attracted significant regulatory attention, remains a top ten online lender, despite seeing its traffic gradually reduced from peak desktop visits of 300,000 visits in March 2015. In contrast, in July, the lender saw only 138,000 desktop visits. However, the site still is a strong player in the top ten, enjoying the highest average visit duration (seven minutes 13 seconds) and highest number of pages per visit (8.55).
