Eurobank in digital banking overhaul with Accenture
Eurobank Ergasias has signed a ten-year agreement with Accenture to pursue digital transformation of its subsidiaries in Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia and Ukraine. Accenture will help build a new platform for the bank, dubbed “Intelligent Infrastructure”.
It will be based on Accenture’s Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offering and will support Eurobank’s core functions, such as loans and deposits, online banking, transaction processing and credit/debit card services.
The relationship between Accenture and Eurobank is not new. The former has been providing consulting and outsourcing services to the latter for 15+ years.
Also, the domestic operations of Eurobank – Greece (where the bank is the third largest) – run on Accenture’s Alnova core banking system. The international subsidiaries, however, have a different core platform – Oracle FSS’s Flexcube.
Stavros Ioannou, Eurobank’s deputy CEO, group COO and international activities, comments that the latest project comes as part of the bank’s “strategy to enhance operational efficiencies and effectiveness”.
