EBA Clearing Launches RFP for Pan-European Real-Time Payments Service (Oct. 6, 2015)
EBA Clearing, a bank-owned provider of European payment infrastructure solutions, this week announced an RFP to build the framework for a pan-European service that could support real-time payments within the next two years. The move comes after the organization published a road map this past July describing the initiative, following last year’s call to action by the Euro Retail Payments Board to develop cross-border payments solutions in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA).
More than 20 representatives of organizations that use EBA Clearing are supporting development of an instant payments clearing and settlement process available to payment services providers that would be piloted in 2017. A task force of European payment services providers recently completed a report on the proposed initiative, which will be released at the Sibos conference in Singapore next week.
