People on the Move: Scott Pearson, Ballard Spahr LLP
Attorney Scott Pearson has joined law firm Ballard Spahr LLP as a partner in the firm’s consumer financial services group, which defends financial institutions in class actions, government enforcement proceedings and other complex litigation. During his 20-year career, Pearson has won more than 75 class action lawsuits, with clients spanning the financial services industry, from global banks and credit card issuers to community banks and specialty finance companies. The addition of Pearson to Ballard Spahr’s Los Angeles office is part of a strategic plan to expand the firm’s litigation capabilities in the West. Pearson has experience in consumer lending issues, including regulations governing mortgages, credit cards, student loans, auto finance, debt collection and credit reporting. In addition to litigation, he regularly handles high-profile government enforcement proceedings brought by the CFPB and advises major financial institutions on consumer compliance issues.
