Wipro goes with the blockchain flow
IT services integrator Wipro has set up a blockchain research facility at its Bengaluru campus in India to help its engineers build applications.
Wipro is working with a number of unnamed start-ups to scale up the business, and with scant regard to detail it says some pilot projects should be completed soon. Being vague is in vogue it seems.
Wipro’s chief technology officer K.R. Sanjiv says: “Blockchain is a big focus area because of the potential the technology offers.”
He says that its focus areas are Swift, asset management and identity management.
Sanjiv adds: “We have built some prototypes, done demos, and we are in the process of implementing some internal use cases for our customers.”
Some details would have been nice.
Mad for it
O blockchain, blockchain, wherefore art thou blockchain? Oh wait… you’re everywhere.
Recent developments include Goldman Sachs going blockchain for FX sake, Barclays making waves with start-up Wave for trade finance transactions, and a US-based credit union consortium waking up to its potential uses.
