South Africa’s Mercantile Bank goes omnichannel with TCS Bancs Digital
South Africa-based Mercantile Bank has implemented a new digital channels platform, TCS Bancs Digital, supplied by TCS Financial Solutions.
The bank has already been using the TCS Bancs core banking system for nearly a decade. It has now extended the Indian vendor’s technology to the front-end – to support desktop, tablet and mobile banking for businesses.
The omnichannel project has been underway since 2015, Banking Technology understands.
TCS Bancs Digital supports various types of payments, credit cards and tax filing at Mercantile Bank and is integrated with South Africa’s national tax payments infrastructure.
Karl Kumbier, CEO at Mercantile Bank, describes TCS Bancs Digital as “easy to use, secure, agile and flowing intuitively”.
“It is designed to be simpler and rests on the three pillars of security, speed and convenience,” Kumbier says.
“Since the launch of our new solution, customer satisfaction of our online channel is at 86.7% for our bank.”
Mercantile Bank is a niche business and commercial bank, established in South Africa back in 1965. It has 15 branches across the country and employs around 420 people.
The bank is fully owned by Portugal’s largest financial services group, Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD).
